Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Who’s ready for an icy glass of the best iced tea ever? This recipe is something of a copycat of Starbucks version, and it’s one of their most popular drinks with the summery flavor of fresh peach!
Here’s some good reasons to give it a try:
- This is a delicious, super refreshing drink, perfect for hot days
- This homemade recipe isn’t too sweet, but it can be adjusted to your liking
- The Starbucks drink version uses peach syrup and green tea concentrate, we’ll use real peaches to make a homemade peach juice
- This is an easy recipe, with nothing more than green tea, peaches, store-bought lemonade and ice cubes
Love fruity, icy beverages that aren’t super sweet but big on refreshment? Try this wonderful Dark Cherry Smoothie, this tropical flavored Pineapple Slushie, and this Fresh Cherry Milkshake (which can be made dairy-free)…it has a little pool of soft chocolate ganache on the bottom. Whoa.
Ingredients You’ll Need
For the full recipe and list of ingredients and instructions, please scroll to the recipe card below.
- Green Tea: You’ll need a cup for two servings, steeped for about 5 minutes to make it concentrated. Filtered water is best if possible.
- Peaches: Just 2-3, plus extra for garnish
- Lemonade: Small bottles are available at most grocery stores, or make homemade lemonade instead
- Honey: A touch of honey is the perfect little bit of sweetness in this recipe
Step-By Step Instructions
- Start by peeling the peaches and cutting them into chunks. Add them to a food processor or blender.
2. Add the honey and then whiz (whirl?) the peaches until fully pureed, about a minute. It should be a little loose, but still thick and pour-able.
3. Next, add the lemonade, the peach puree, and the green tea into a jar with a secure lid. I used a large Mason jar, but a cocktail shaker is also a good idea.
4. Fill the jar three quarters full with crushed ice, put the lid on and shake well.
5. Pour into glasses with ice and sliced peaches. Add a sprig of basil or mint if you’d like!
Tips and Possible Variations
- Use other types of tea if you’d prefer, like lemon verbena, black tea or Earl Grey.
- Be sure to peel your peaches before you puree, otherwise you”ll have dark specs from the skin throughout the drink.
- If you don’t have fresh peaches, try canned peach pulp or nectar, found in well-stocked grocery stores.
- If you want this drink sweeter, just add more honey 🙂
Serving Ideas
- Serve this tea on a tray with crushed ice and a few more sliced peaches if you’d like
- This is a great mocktail for parties, or be my guest and try it with a little vodka 🙂
- If you are doing a little gathering, why not make some Veggie Cups with Hummus, some of these addicting Party Olives, and some Lemon Artichoke Dip?
- This drink is also nice with a tray of this fabulous Stuffed Celery Appetizer recipe.
- A fresh salad is also a nice with this super summery drink, try this favorite – Strawberry Asparagus Goat Cheese Salad.
- Cookies are another perfect companion to a tall glass of iced tea, and these Iced Lemon Shortbread Cookies are thick, soft and just devine.
- Macadamia Nut Shortbread would also do the trick, same with good old Chocolate Chip or these soft chocolate sugar cookies. Have fun!
