For the full recipe and list of ingredients, please scroll to the recipe card below.
- Semi Sweet Chocolate: A block or chips is fine.
- White Chocolate: White chocolate chips or a block, to pour over the dark chocolate.
- Pretzels: The straight sticks work well in this recipe, but any will do.
- Assorted Candy: Use small chocolates, gummy candy, jelly beans.
Step-By Step Instructions
- Start by adding water to a medium sized saucepan, and let it come to a gentle boil over medium heat.
- Use a heat safe bowl (metal works well) to set inside the saucepan, but not touching the water.
- Add the chocolate to the bowl, stirring it occasionally until it melts.
- Remove the bowl from the saucepan (use a kitchen towel, it’ll be hot).
5. Smear the melted chocolate in a rectangular shape on the prepared cookie sheet, not too thin. (Use a rimmed cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper.)
6. Let it cool completely, then use the same process for the white chocolate, smearing it over the dark.
7. Let the two chocolates sit for a minute or two, then press the candy into the bark, using any pattern you wish.
8. Set the pan of bark in a cool place, or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to cool completely.
Tips and Possible Variations
- Use the tip of a sharp knife to break the bark apart. Go straight down on the top of the cooled bark to break into smaller, irregular pieces.
- Be sure to let the chocolate cool completely before attempting to cut it.
- When placing the candies on top of the chocolate bark, try grouping the candies together a bit. There’s no wrong way to do this!
- You can use a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips for this recipe, but note that a typical bag weighs under a pound, so you’ll need about a bag and a third.
- Use any combination of seasonal candy that you’d like. Use a combination of chocolate candy, hard candy, sprinkles, and jelly beans and gum drops.
- You can microwave the chocolate instead of using a saucepan. Use a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals.

Easy White Chocolate Pretzel Bark
Ingredients
- 1 pound Semi Sweet Chocolate Can be chips, see note
- 8 ounces White Chocolate
- 1 cup Pretzel Sticks, Salted
- 2 cups Assorted Seasonal Candy See note
Instructions
- Prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper. Make a double boiler by using a medium saucepan and filling it with it a quarter of the way with water. Bring to a gentle boil. Place the metal bowl inside the saucepan, but don't let it touch the water. The bowl should comfortably sit in the saucepan without touching the bottom or the water.
- Place the semi-sweet chocolate in the bowl and let it sit for a few minutes to melt. Stir occasionally with a rubber spatula. When melted, carefully pull the bowl out of the saucepan (use a towel to catch any hot water drippings) and stir the chocolate a few more times to make sure it's smooth. Pour it down the middle of the parchment-lined baking sheet and spread it into a roughly-sized nine or ten inch rectangle. Let this cool completely by placing it in the refrigerator or freezer for 15 minutes, or setting it in a cool place for about 30 minutes.
- Repeat the process to melt the white chocolate the same as the semi-sweet. Let the melted white chocolate sit for a minute or two, then pour and spread it over the semi-sweet layer. It's okay if the two chocolates mingle and melt a little. Add the pretzels and candy in decorative shapes all over the top, then let it cool completely before breaking it up with a knife.
Notes
- You can use a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips for this recipe, but note that a typical bag weighs under a pound, so you’ll need about a bag and a third.
- Use any combination of seasonal candy that you’d like. I’d suggest a combination of chocolate candy, hard candy like conversation hearts, a jelly bean variety for color and a gum drop type of candy.
- Use sprinkles too, if you’d like.
