RED

Red is an approx. 4-yr old neutered male. Red came to rescue from a woman down in Nephi UT who started feeding him when her neighbor moved out and left him chained to his trailer home. Red is a big charming lug who loves to smile. He is 65 lbs of fun and about 24" tall. Red is not a graceful V but more the "bull in the china shop" boy. He has a big square head, tail docked a bit too short, dew claws still on. He is house trained, crate trained and not a fence jumper. Red would love to have a female buddy to play with. Red sits for treats and walks well on leash. He sleeps in an easy chair in the bedroom but would love to sleep on the bed if you can make room! He comes to call and rides well in the car if you can see over his head with all of him parked in your lap :) Red needs a home with no young children as they make him nervous and he was not exposed to them while young. Cats are unknown. Red is also very home protective so owners need to understand both the +/- sides of his protective nature. Red was adopted 9/2001 and spent two happy years in Idaho but due to family changes they are not able to keep him so he is again looking for someone to love him forever.

Update Oct 2003: Our foster homes were bursting at the seams so Red spent a couple of fun weeks at the Smart Puppy Hotel in Idaho (aka Canyon Rim) while we searched for the right home for him. Chris came highly recommended by the southern CA coordinator, Donna, and also the national chair, Steve, so when she inquired about Red we figured we had a pretty good match. Chris was looking to fill the void left by the passing of her older V who was also a rescue dog and Holly, her young female V, was looking for a romping partner. Chris understood the protective nature of Red and was willing to take him into her life. She has since reported that Red fits in so well no one believes she just adopted him. Red and Holly run round and round playing tug-o-war with soft toys. They rummage in the toy box to find just the perfect one for the moment and they have a ball destroying all bed covers or knocking the pillows off the couch -- with or without Chris in the bed or on the couch! Have fun watching your children play and enjoy snuggles from two Vizsla bed hogs. Red will be devoted to you for life.
